Here is an update on Hurricane Ian and Amelia Island. The storm went past us yesterday evening on its way to South Carolina. Once again our location and the curvature of Florida benefited us with minimal impact as Ian proceeded north. We did have about 36 hours of some wind of various strengths although there were no readings over 49 miles per hour on the island. We did have some tree limbs and palm fronds down and a few trees fell over but mainly it was just a lot of fallen leaves, especially in Summer Beach and Amelia Island Plantation. Similar to a Nor'easter and much less than recent storms. Overall we had about 2 inches of rain on the island. Most businesses started to close Wednesday afternoon as the wind picked up.
